Fungus-Growing Ants I worked as Dr. Ulrich Mueller’s lab manager at the University of Texas at Austin. I worked on a diversity of projects including genotype interactions, fungal cultivation, 454-data analysis, and methods analysis. Check out publications to see the ones that we’ve wrapped up so far!
Blind Observation in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior While at UT Austin, we also looked into the lack of reporting of blind observation in ecology, evolution and behavior. We published our paper in Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution calling for an increased in reporting of blind observation. This has resulted in further calls and changes in editorial policies at a few of the surveyed journals.
Patterns of avian malarial infection in Himalayan warblers As an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, I worked with former graduate student, Dr. Elizabeth Scordato, in Dr. Trevor Price’s lab. We looked at turnover of malarial parasites in two species of Himalayan warblers. Check out our paper here!
Nestling Song Discrimination I did a field season in Alaska in 2012 with Dr. Dai Shizuka performing experiments on nestling song recognition. You can check out the paper he published from the data we collected here.
Wheatgrass Phenotyping I worked as a field assistant for Traci Hagedorn as she phenotyped wheatgrass at the Land Institute in 2010 for her project looking at factors affecting perennial plant yield.
